Sergio Suhett

Social Media & Marketing Associate

As Business Innovation Factory’s Social Media & Marketing Associate, Sergio stands at the open border between the innovators at BIF and the people and organizations in the wide world of ideas. In this role, Sergio infuses his work with a capacity for purposeful, remarkably relevant chatter.

Engineering a social media campaign for Edesia Global Nutrition Solutions, to increase awareness of childhood malnutrition and raise funds for the manufacture of food products as a means of saving the lives of 85 malnourished kids, was a revelation for Sergio. While supervising and scripting a promotional video, representing the campaign on local television and radio programs, and spearheading communication outreach efforts, Sergio developed an appreciation for the noble endeavor of creating positive change through innovative interaction. Subsequent experience has taught him that it can be a whole lot of fun as well.

Sergio’s characteristic persistence, dedication to ingenuity, and love of a challenge, have resulted in the acknowledgment of his peers, as well as the recognition of the President’s Award for Academic Excellence and two Public Relations Excellence awards from the Harrington School of Communication and Media at the University of Rhode Island, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BA in Public Relations in December of 2015. Prior to URI, Sergio obtained his AS in Behavioral Sciences at City College of San Francisco.

A native of Brazil, Sergio’s adventures coming to America, as a young adult speaking only a few words of English, started him on the path of mastering the art of communication. In the years since, Sergio has been passionately involved in the struggle for marriage equality, and in 2011, he and his husband made history as the first same-sex couple to be interviewed by the U.S. Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services for the purpose of obtaining a green card. His best buddy is an amazing English Cocker Spaniel named Luke Sidewalker. Sergio loves reading, cycling, gaming, and connecting with friends.
